The Tibetan Support Programme (TSP)
Group, a non-political, non-religious entity was established
in Perth, Western Australia in 2003 in association with
the Australian Foundation for the Peoples of Asia and the
Pacific Ltd. (AFAP).
The group consists of individuals,
networks and business partners located in Australia and
internationally who share a common concern for the future
of the people from the Tibetan ethnic regions in the Peoples
Republic of China (PRC).
By providing resource support to various
social development projects in the geographically defined
Tibetan ethnic regions of the PRC, TSP aspires to make a
significant contribution toward enhancing the quality of
life (QOL) of the people living in these regions.
Dr Dave Webb,
the founder of TSP, currently teaches and researches in
the area of ‘societal marketing’ at the University
of Western Australia. He describes himself as a social scientist
with interests in anthropology, geography, theology, sociology
and social psychology. Having travelled and lived in many
countries, he has been exposed to the plight of people living
in extreme poverty all over the world. While in Nepal in
November 2001, Dave met Lobsang Tsering, a Tibetan monk,
who spoke of his dream to build a school for young children
in the province of Qinghai (PRC). Returning to Australia
and having offered assistance, Dave established the Tibetan
Support Programme (TSP) to help improve the quality of life
of the Tibetan nomadic people.
